2nd Grade Team

Hello families!!! My name is Kayla Lehr-Heggem and I am the team lead of 2nd grade!! This is my fifth year teaching at RMCA. In addition to team lead, I am involved with our building leadership team as well as teacher support group. I graduated from UCCS in May of 2019 with my Bachelors in Elementary Education. I am happily married and a mom of three boys, Troy, Shawn, and Addison who I enjoy spending time with outside all over Colorado. Teaching has been one of the most rewarding careers I have done in my life. I love seeing the growth in our 2nd graders, year after year. I am happy to call RMCA my home away from home!!

Alysia Padilla

Hello! My name is Alysia Padilla and this is my fourth year at RMCA. I am so excited to begin another amazing year at this school. I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with my Bachelors in Elementary Education with an endorsement in ESL. I have lived in Colorado Springs most of my life, and I am originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico. When I am not at school, I love being outdoors, drawing, watching football (Go Broncos!) and spending time with my family. I am also excited to be coaching our middle school cheer team this year! I am looking forward to a great year!

Jayne Emerson

Hello RMCA community! I am so excited and honored to be joining the RMCA 2nd grade team for another year. I attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where I got my degree in middle childhood- early adolescence education as well as mathematics. I taught 3rd grade before moving to the Springs with my fiance, Sean. I believe that every student has a right to a great education. I will do everything in my power to encourage students to strive for the knowledge that will help them be successful in life. My educational goal is to help each and every student realize their own personal, social, and academic potential through education. I look forward to meeting and joining this wonderful community here at RMCA. Please stop in and say hello!

Chelsea Milcic

Hello RMCA! My name is Chelsea Milcic and this is my 4th year here at RMCA. The past 3 years I have been in 5th grade, so this is my first year in 2nd. I am so excited for this school year! I graduated from the University of Idaho with my Bachelors in Elementary Education. I grew up in Idaho and moved here to Colorado with my husband in 2020 - I know, crazy of us to move during COVID. We are a military family and welcomed our first baby boy in August. I LOVE sports, but baseball is my favorite! Teaching has always been a passion of mine, and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else!

Caleb Heddy

My name is Caleb Heddy, and I'm a 25-year-old Michigander. I've been involved with after-school programs in Flint for 3 years and substitute teaching for the last year. I have a passion for youth and plan on continuing my education to become a teacher. In my free time, I am very active, engaging in activities like playing pickleball, disc-golfing, skiing, and keeping my two dogs active. I'm extremely excited to spend the rest of the school year with this second-grade class!
