Overview

Third grade is such an exciting time! It's a year of discovery, where everything feels new and full of possibilities. We get to dive into fun subjects like math, reading, history, science, and explore creative projects that really let our imagination soar. Whether it’s learning to multiply, reading a new chapter book, or discovering cool facts about the world, third grade is full of amazing adventures. Students will become time travelers and live a day in the life as a Roman citizen and a colonist. Students will discover the scientific process with dissecting a cow's eye and owl pellets. We get to become explorers as we adventure to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and blast off to the Space Foundation. Best of all, it's the year where friendships grow stronger and confidence blooms.

Teachers

Chelsea Milcic

Teacher, Team Lead

Hello! I’m Chelsea Milcic and I’m so excited to be in my 5th year teaching here at RMCA! My husband is military, which is what moved us to Colorado Springs! We have a baby boy, Carson. I love to be outside, reading, and watching movies. I believe that building a relationship should be at the forefront of every classroom community. Once a student can trust you and lean on you, they will also learn from you. I’m so excited to see what this year has in store!

Natalie Barglowski

Teacher

When I was twelve, I knew that I wanted to teach elementary school. Through the years, I worked in lunch rooms, volunteered in classrooms, was a classroom aide, and did several years of substitute teaching. Helping children learn more about themselves and the world is one of my favorite parts of teaching. I have been at RMCA since it began in 2006, teaching 4th, 1st, and 3rd grade. I have two adult daughters. One is a first grade teacher at Banning Lewis Ranch Academy. She and her husband welcomed their first child, Willow, February 1, 2023. I'm a grandma now! My other daughter lives in Miami with her husband who is in the Army. When I'm not at school, I can be found with a good book and cup of tea, enjoying the mountain air, traveling, or spending time with good friends and family.

Marise Peters

Teacher

Hi, I’m Marise, a proud South African and Geography enthusiast with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. After eight years of teaching, including six amazing years teaching English in South Korea, I traded kimchi for the Colorado mountains, where I relocated with my husband last May. When I’m not shaping young minds, you can find me adventuring outdoors or getting lost in a good book.

We have two wonderful boys; both attend RMCA. I enjoy coffee, Jane Eyre, & spending time with my friends and family.

Sarah MacLean

Teacher Assistant (Activities)

I am a first grade teacher assistant here at RMCA. This is my 8th year working at RMCA as a teacher's assistant. I have my RN license, and did private duty nursing with pediatrics and now volunteer as a nurse when needed. I love working at RMCA and have been blessed to work at the school my girls have attended since kindergarten. I love spending time with my family (husband and 2 teenage daughters). We love to play board games, go mini golfing, camping, traveling and enjoy spending time together. I was born in California but have lived here for most of my life. I love being able to be a part of the education of the first graders here at RMCA. It has been such a joy to get to know all the students that have been in the classrooms I've worked in and watch them grow from year to year.
