5th Grade

Overview
5th grade is the last stop on your student's journey through elementary school and we cannot be more excited that you are here! This year will be filled with lots of learning and preparations to get your student ready for middle school. We will read amazing historical writings such as The Adventures of Don Quixote and A Midsummer Night's Dream, expand our math knowledge through discovery, learn all about the Civil War and the founding of the United States, learn financial literacy and run a city with AmeriTowne, discuss the Earth and Space, and even dissect an entire fetal pig! We can't wait to see you in class!

World History and Geography: Early American Civilizations, Maya, Aztec and Inca Civilizations, Spanish Conquerors, European Exploration, The Renaissance and the Reformation, England from the Golden Age to the Glorious Revolution, Russia, Feudal Japan

Mathematics: Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Number and Operations in Base Ten, Number and Operations in Fractions, Measurement Data, Geometry

The Core Knowledge Sequence is a detailed outline of specific content and skills to be taught in language arts, history, geography, mathematics, science, and the fine arts. As the core of a school’s curriculum, it is intended to provide a coherent, content specific foundation of learning, while allowing flexibility to meet local needs.
