ANNOUNCEMENTS

2025 Kindergarten Graduation

We are excited to invite you to celebrate the graduating kindergarten class of 2025! Please read below for dress code, celebration times, and scheduling. The celebration will take place in the school gym, with graduation parties afterwards.

Schedule

5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Our graduation ceremony will last from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. All kindergarten classes will be a part of the same graduation ceremony at 5:00.

6:00 pm- 6:30 pm

We will host graduation parties after the ceremony. This will be the time to take pictures, eat snacks and mingle with each other. We will be needing donations for snacks and drinks for our graduation party. Please see our kindergarten graduation donation sign up for more information.

Dress Code

Students are required to wear their kindergarten graduation t-shirt, uniform bottoms, caps and tassels. Students will receive their shirts on May 16th. We ask that students not wear their shirts before actual graduation to help keep them clean. Cap and tassels will be kept at school and your student will bring them home on graduation night.

Adults, keep in mind that graduation ceremonies are planned to take place inside our gym. Please dress appropriately for a possibly hot gymnasium, and keep in mind that you will want TONS of pictures. Wear what you will feel most comfortable in for both of these circumstances.

Guests

Due to the size of the kindergarten class, we request that each student has no more than five guests. These guests are welcome to the graduation ceremony and to celebrate with us. As parking is limited, we recommend carpooling with your family members.

Overview

Our Kindergarten team welcomes early learners to a curriculum rich environment that promotes the learning of foundational skills that will launch them into a lifelong love of learning. In the classroom, students learn and practice phonics and literacy skills as well as hands-on math activities. Their learning is complemented by activities and a field trip to Wishing Star Farm which supplements the topics they learn about in the Core Knowledge Sequence.

  • Language Arts: Read-Alouds, Comprehension and Discussion

  • Reading: Phonics, Oral Reading and Fluency

  • Writing: Handwriting & Spelling, Parts of Speech & Sentence Structure, Capitalization & Punctuation

  • World History and Geography: Overview of the Seven Continents

  • American History: Native American Peoples, The Voyage of Columbus, The Pilgrims, “Independence Day”, Presidents

  • Mathematics:  Counting and Cardinality, Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Number and Operations in Base Ten, Measurement and Data

As well as Mother Goose and Other Traditional Poems, Sayings and Phrases, Visual Arts, and Music

The Core Knowledge Sequence is a detailed outline of specific content and skills to be taught in language arts, history, geography, mathematics, science, and the fine arts. As the core of a school’s curriculum, it is intended to provide a coherent, content specific foundation of learning, while allowing flexibility to meet local needs.

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be back at RMCA for another wonderful year of Kindergarten. This will be my third year at RMCA, and my ninth year teaching. I'm thankful to work at such a terrific school, and I cannot wait to work with you to help ensure your kiddos first year in school is an amazing one! It's an honor I do not take lightly. I have my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, and my undergrad is in Elementary Education from Washington State University. Go Cougs! I love reading, hiking, college football, Crossfit, and trying to keep up with my two kiddos (who also go to RMCA!). The Space Force moved us and my husband here in 2021, and I never want to leave!

Hello! My name is Celeste Henley (formerly Francione) and this will be my fourteenth year in education and my twelfth year teaching kindergarten at RMCA! I absolutely love it. I was born in Illinois, but I have lived in Colorado since I was in mid-kindergarten. I have a degree in Elementary Education from Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque, Iowa. I love elephants, purple, Pepsi, chocolate, crafting, helping at church, animals, exploring new places, reading, and teaching. I was just married this summer, so exciting things have been happening! This will be my first year teaching as a Mrs! Kindergarten is the best – we have so much fun and learn so much throughout the year. I love getting to know my students and their families. Looking forward to a wonderful year!

Greetings! I am excited to be back for my fourth year as a kindergarten teacher at Rocky Mountain Classical Academy. I fell in love with the RMCA family while substituting for a kindergarten class in 2022 and I love working with our youngest elementary Knights and new families! My husband and I moved to Colorado Springs in 2018 from Texas; we have two elderly cats, two wild huskies, and a tiny toddler who attends the nursery at here RMCA. We love being a part of the RMCA community!

Teacher Assistant (K - 8th)

Hi, my name is Lisa Robbins. I’m starting my 5th year working at RMCA. I’ve lived in Colorado for 25 years. I was raised in Iowa, but later moved to Colorado to attend Fort Lewis College in Durango. I’ve been married to my amazing husband, Justin, for 19 years. Our two sons attend RMCA. Our oldest son is starting middle school and our youngest son is entering 5th grade. In my free time I enjoy having lunch with friends, reading, and watching my sons play baseball.
