My name is Amber Vasquez and I am so excited to be part of the RMCA family. I am not originally from Colorado but I do consider it my home. I am originally from Florida but the mountains have won my heart. I have 4 children, a 15 yr old, 14 yr. old, 3 yr. old and a 2 yr. old. They keep me very busy but in a great way! We enjoy getting outside and just relaxing together as a family. I have been teaching for 7 years now. I have had the pleasure of teaching 3rd, 4th, 5th, and now Kindergarten. I love what I do and can't imagine not being in the classroom watching my students grow every single day!!
I was born in Illinois but I have lived in Colorado since I was in mid-kindergarten. I have a degree in Elementary Education from Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque, Iowa. I love elephants, purple, Pepsi, chocolate, crafting, animals, exploring new places, reading, and teaching. This is my ninth year in education and seventh year teaching kindergarten at RMCA. I absolutely love it! Kindergarten is so much fun and they grow so much throughout the year!
I was born and raised in Colorado, but my husband and I moved to Alaska in 2012. After 7 years of adventures there, my family and I moved back to be closer to our families J I have 3 little girls, Aurora (5), Ruby (3) and Kaitlyn (1). I have taught for 8 years in many different grades. I taught for a few years in Colorado, and then in five years in Metlakatla, Alaska and Anchorage. I received my degree at Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado, and my MA from Benedictine University.
I love to do most any activity outside but especially love biking, downhill skiing and hiking. It is so exciting to be teaching this year at RMCA!
My name is Anna James and this is my second year teaching Kindergarten here at RMCA! My husband, son and I moved from Wyoming last May and we are so happy to be here in the Springs and to be a part of this wonderful community here at RMCA. When not teaching, I love spending time with my family enjoying the outdoors. I love hiking, running and photography. I am so excited about this year and to be here at RMCA!
My name is Vanessa Joens. This is my first year teaching and I am excited to be a part of the RMCA family. I received my Bachelor's degree in Inclusive Elementary Education from The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Prior to teaching I was in the Air Force and served for 8 years as a medic. I have lived in Colorado Springs most of my life and was excited to come home after the military. I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, reading, listening to country music, chocolate and pizza.
My name is Raeli Reyes and this is my first year at RMCA! This will be my second year teaching Kindergarten, which in my opinion, is the best grade! I am a Colorado native and could not imagine living anywhere else. I graduated from CSU-Pueblo with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. I have a one-year little boy named Silas. We enjoy spending time outside, camping, hiking, and playing in the water. I love staying busy, which is why Kindergarten is the grade for me. I am looking forward to this school year!
Welcome to RMCA! This is my 13th year of teaching! I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from the University of Northern Colorado. I worked for a credit union until I discovered my true passion is working with kids. I went back to school at the University of Phoenix where I received my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. I am truly blessed to work here at RMCA! I look forward to partnering with you this school year!
