4th Grade Team
Hello! Welcome to 4th Grade!!! My name is Mrs. Tavernier (formally Miss Winchester) and this is going to be an exciting year and I’m ready to get to know you all throughout our time together. I am a native to Colorado, born and raised in Colorado Springs. I graduated from Rampart High School. Then got my Associates of Arts from Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs. After getting my associates degree, I transferred to University of Northern Colorado to get my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. This past December, I received my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership through my Alma Mater, University of Northern Colorado! This 2020-2021 school year will be my seventh year teaching, my sixth at RMCA! A little bit about me and my family: this summer my husband and I got a puppy, her name is Winnie! I come from a decent sized family with two brothers and one sister. My oldest brother MJ is married to Lara and they have four kids, Wyatt, Shane, Luke and Heidi. My second oldest brother is Chris. He lives in Denver with his wife Nicole, and their two kids Delaney and Vance. My sister’s name is Tiffany, she lives in Houston working for Veterans Affairs. My parents also live in Colorado! I am looking forward to getting to know your child and your family. I hope that you are all excited for what is to come and ready for a great year with adventure, fun, and lots of learning!
Hello! I am Ms. McCoy. I attended the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and majored in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Special Education and ELL learners. I grew up here in Colorado and when I'm not in the classroom you can find me outside enjoying everything beautiful Colorado has to offer with my two daughters.
Hello! My name is Sarah Strubing and this is my 3rd year teaching 4th grade at RMCA. I am originally from Chicago, IL, but have loved living in Colorado. I am a huge fan of Colorado's outdoor activities. When I am not in the classroom you can find me outside reading a good book or hiking a new trail.
My name is Greta Garvey and I am a 4th grade teacher here at RMCA! This is my 6th year of teaching and five of those have been at RMCA. I am so excited to teach 4th grade again this year. I originally grew up in Arizona and then moved to Minnesota. I went to college in South Dakota and moved to Colorado right after I graduated in 2016. I have loved every second of living in Colorado and being a teacher at RMCA!
My Name is Dr. Tanya Chavez and I am the new fourth grade teacher. I just moved here from Florida, but was born and raised in New York City. I have one daughter who is now 21 years old. I have been an elementary school teacher for 24 years and I am very happy to have joined the RMCA family.
My name is Lindsey Kelly and this is my 3rd year teaching at RMCA. I graduated from Kansas State University in May 2017 with a degree in elementary education. I married my husband, George Kelly, in July of 2017. I had my son, James in 2019 and he will be 1 year old in December. I am from Shawnee Kansas, and currently live in Woodland Park, Colorado. I love being a part of the lives and education of children! Our classroom motto that I try to instill into my students is: "Not always sunny, but always in a sunny state of mind" - Lilly Pulitzer.
