5th Grade Team
My name is Hilary Calvert! I’m so excited to get this school year started! I’ve been at RMCA since 2016 and have taught 5th grade every year. Prior to working at RMCA I worked as a 3rd grade para in District 20 and spent a year running a before and after school program for District 49. I earned my bachelor’s degree in English and education from the University of Northern Colorado in 2011. I completed my master’s degree in Library Science in 2015 from Clarion State University of Pennsylvania. I spend a lot of time hanging out with my family. I am the oldest of 5 kids. Two of my siblings are married and I have two sweet nephews. Even though I grew up in Colorado Springs, I was born in Wisconsin. My family and I are HUGE Green Bay Packer fans. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, reading, and doing arts and craft projects. A few of my favorite things are coffee, chocolate, and sunflowers. My favorite subjects are literature and history.

My name is Mrs. Michelle Nelson and I will be starting my 6th year of teaching and my 4th at RMCA. I love experiments and hands on activities so that is a priority this year. I am originally from Iowa (GO HAWKS). I grew up on a family farm that belonged to my great grandfather, grandfather, and now my father. I have three brothers, 2 nephews and 2 nieces.
I attended Northwest Missouri State University where I earned a bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture and after college I entered the private sector working for landscaping companies as a designer. I also worked in the advertising and social media industries but teaching was always in my mind and after 10 years I decided to return to the classroom. My husband, Chris, and our Weimaraner, Sky, moved from Iowa in 2014 to Colorado Springs so I could pursue my dream of teaching in a classroom. I completed my BOCES program after two years of teaching 1st grade.
Chris and I enjoy kayaking, hiking, skiing, and he also fishes and plays paintball. I also love taking photographs mostly of landscapes and wildlife however I also attend paintball tournaments and take photos as Chris plays for two teams.
My name is Matthew Foster and I am so excited to be here at RMCA. This will be my first year at RMCA but my eighth year teaching overall, most of them coming as a 5th grade teacher but I also have taught middle school science. I am originally from Boston, Massachusetts, but I have been living here in Colorado Springs since I was five years old, growing up right down the street from here. I have my bachelor's degree from UCCS, as well as a master's degree in Sport Administration from the University of Northern Colorado. I am a huge sports fan, especially baseball, and besides playing sports in my free time I also love to spend time with my family, explore the outdoors, and play guitar and piano. I cannot wait to get this school year started!
My name is Chelsea Milcic and this is my first year at RMCA as well as my first year teaching. I am so excited to be teaching 5th grade this year! I am originally from Southern Idaho where I went to University of Idaho for Elementary Education. Since we are a military family, my husband and I recently moved to Colorado Springs! We love the outdoors so Colorado Springs has been the perfect place for us. I am so thankful to be here, I couldn't imagine a better school for my first year of teaching!
