Alyssa Barson

Team Lead

Hey, all my name is Miss Barson and this is my fourth year at RMCA and my fourth year as a 3rd grade teacher. This is also my fourth year coaching our middle school volleyball team. I love having the opportunity every day to impact children's lives. I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado (Go Bears!!) I was born and raised in Colorado but a majority of my heart lives in Tennessee (Go Titans!!).  When I'm not at school, I can be found reading a good book, enjoying the mountain air, or anything sport-related.

When I was twelve, I knew that I wanted to teach elementary school. Through the years, I worked in lunch rooms, volunteered in classrooms, was a classroom aide, and did several years of substitute teaching. Helping children learn more about themselves and the world is one of my favorite parts of teaching. I have been at RMCA since it began in 2006, teaching 4th, 1st, and 3rd grade. I have two adult daughters. One is a first grade teacher at Banning Lewis Ranch Academy. She and her husband welcomed their first child, Willow, February 1, 2023. I'm a grandma now!!. My other daughter lives in Miami with her husband who is in the Army. When I'm not at school, I can be found with a good book and cup of tea, enjoying the mountain air, traveling, or spending time with good friends and family.
